MY JOURNEY:
In 2018, I was living a fairly typical life after moving across many states to our new destination. I'd been married to my husband, Jason, for 20 years, and together we were raising two children, Stephen and Kayla. In October of that year, my life took a sharp turn. I had just started my dream job in a Medical Center as a Molecular Biological Scientist. Although I had risen in rank, I had started feeling physically and emotionally depleted after being at the job for a couple of months; I just thought it must be from the big move. I started to experience migraines, which was a surprise because I rarely experienced headaches.
I frequently sacrificed my nutrition and rest to meet deadlines at work and my family's demands. There were days I took over-the-counter medications (Ibuprofen and Tylenol) like candy just to get me through the day. Then, I would go home to my family and lay on the floor flat on my back for hours until my headache would subside.
The lunches I chose were quick, nutrient-deficient, and often eaten quickly. Because of that, I always craved pasta, rice, and bread. Eventually, I learned the hard way that the vicious cycle was depleting my body of energy, sleep, and nutrition, resulting in chronic pain. I also experienced depression and anxiety, which made my job as a Mom, wife, and employee much more difficult.
Then came the eye-opener. While standing at my lab station processing patient samples, I felt weak in my knees: my body was trembling, and I sat on the floor and cried. I could not even engage in a simple conservation. The questions start arising in my head, "Am I going to be ok? What is wrong with me?" I was an avid runner and loved resistance training, but those days were gone during this difficult time in my life.
But that wasn't the only thing that woke me up.
One morning during the winter months, I woke up with chronic pain. I could not even stand or sit for any length of time. I said to myself, "How did that happen?" I did not even do anything to cause so much pain. At this time, I was put on high amounts of pain medications. Unfortunately, I had to quit my dream job because I could no longer go to work or get out of bed. I said to myself, "I am only in my early 40s; why am I experiencing all this debilitating pain all of a sudden?" Just six months before,, I was a marathon runner-hiker and always loved being outside. I was also an active mom with my two beautiful children. Yet, by this time, my family thought I was dying.
Although I reminisce casually now, it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I grappled with the thought of being unable to be a mom, wife, or friend. I usually stayed in bed most of the day while the kids were at school.
However, this alarming incident helped me turn a new leaf. I embarked on a journey to optimal health through the discovery of better ways to nourish and energize my body, thanks to working with a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who guided me through my healing journey. One of the functional testing she ran on me was the HTMA, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, which was a total game changer for my health. Therefore, I knew from that day forward I wanted to help women achieve optimal health just like I did.
I realized that whether your driving force is your family, your career, or the desire to run a marathon or enjoy precious moments with your grandchildren in your "golden years," it is crucial to start prioritizing self-care today.
Health issues can sneak up on us when we least expect them. They certainly did for me. Fortunately, I have been able to reverse the course of my well-being and reclaimed my health. I am no longer in bed with chronic pain and fatigue. I am currently enjoying an active lifestyle and most of all enjoying family fun!

I had struggled with my health since-childhood-from GI issues and mental health concerns to hormone imbalances, acne, and chronic fatigue; illness and discomfort were becoming part of my identity. I've always been interested in improving my health, but in discussions with health professionals, I never felt that there was a solution that worked for me. While this shift has brought about lasting positive change, it has not been without its challenges-but Stephanie was there every step of the way. She was there with answers and unwavering support for every questionable food label, and every triumph and fumble. Stephanie has helped me finally gain control of my whole health when I believed I'd always have to sacrifice some facet of health for temporary gain. I feel better than ever, and my body reflects that in function and appearance. I could not have asked for a better practitioner and teacher!
Working with Stephanie was so helpful! Her intake process and initial evaluation were so incredibly thorough. I felt listened to and really heard. The feedback she gave me and the tools and supplements she suggested were simple and easy to implement..with great results! I have more energy, my mind is clearer and I am sleeping better. I have already referred one of my personal training clients to her. I started working with Stephanie at the beginning of April. I had already done a ton of work personally and some things just weren't working for me. My hormones were still completely out of control and my Hashimoto's Thyroiditis was really bad. The symptoms were not something that I could tolerate anymore. Stephanie met with me via Zoom to form a plan specifically for me. This was so important to me because my lifestyle is very busy. We met on a weekend when my kids were napping. It was amazing! I've only implemented a couple of the suggestions so far, had some blood work done to confirm some stuff and it's been approximately 30 days. The really bad symptoms are almost completely gone. I can go outside with my kids and not be freezing to death and in pain. I still have a long ways to go but I'm so hopeful. I haven't felt this good in almost 9 years. Stephanie is so knowledgeable about the body and takes an approach that is very different from any other practitioners I have previously worked with. I expected her first instructions to be the things we hear all the time "we all know we need to do." But that wasn't what happened. Because the reality is we don't all need to do the same thing. Everyone has different nutritional needs and deficiencies and Stephanie is very skilled at identifying them, explaining in a way that is easy to understand, and working together to create a plan that has reasonable, attainable goals to improve at a pace the client is able to handle. Within 2 weeks of making minor nutritional tweaks, I noticed significant improvement in my sleep, clarity of thought, headaches, and intestinal discomfort, and continued to notice improvement throughout our time together. I now feel empowered to recognize cues from my body about what it needs. I think everyone could benefit from a season of working with Stephanie.
